Research question: What are the characteristics of patients with newly diagnosed first CVD events within the AWH-ANHA/HELIUS linkage dataset who were not yet in CVRM programmatic care?
Description: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is among the leading causes of loss of quality of life in NL. To reduce CVD risk, GPs offer CVRM programs to their older patients. Once patients are in one of these CVRM programs, they will receive routine check-ups, reducing their CVD risk. However, there are still patients who have their first CVD event (e.g. a stroke, myocardial infarction or cardiovascular death) without being in CVRM care. Such patients - at high risk, but not yet 'known' to their GP - are especially relevant for screening: it is these people at high risk that we want to reach out to for timely risk reduction. The student will investigate routine primary care data (AWH-ANHA linked to HELIUS cohort) for CVD events, and will deduce from the HIS data whether the patient was already in a CVRM care program. The student will investigate what variables are associated with such 'high risk, but not yet known'.
